Review of the pilot script for The Walking Dead TV series

It’s the internet age, nothing stays quiet for long. Found out through Robert Kirkman’s twitter,

“Someone has reviewed Darabont’s AWESOME pilot script for Walking Dead. No one in Hollywood can keep a secret! Sheesh. http://bit.ly/7nQQ5h”
-RobertKirkman

If you haven’t read The Walking Dead I highly suggest you pick up the first book, which is a collection of first 12 issues. It may be one of the best ongoing series I have ever read. And that’s what is so much fun about it! It is an ongoing series, Kirkman himself describes it as the zombie film that never ends. Truly an ongoing tale of survival.

From what I’ve been reading about this AMC series the more I’m excited. If it’s handled properly I think more people will be able to appreciate how thought provoking and insightful about our own humanity the zombie genre can be.

Here’s and excerpt from the review:

The Walking Dead pilot doesn’t sell out its concept for the sake of finding a wider audience. This is a show set in a world where families have died and the survivors haven’t had the time to cope with their losses, much less come to terms with civilization collapsing around them. Knowing the course that Kirkman’s comic book takes and now after seeing how Darabont’s chose to make the pilot more of a drama than a flat-out horror action show, AMC’s Walking Dead has fantastic potential. The Walking Dead could even do for horror what the new Battlestar Galactica did for science fiction. Cross your fingers and hope that the show comes together as well as it did on the page.

Stoked? I am.

“To all the people watching, I can never ever thank you enough for your kindness to me and I’ll think about it for the rest of my life. All I ask of you is one thing: please don’t be cynical. I hate cynicism. For the record, it’s my least favorite quality, and it doesn’t lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they would get, but if you work hard and you’re kind, I’m telling you, amazing things will happen.” —Conan O’Brien during his farewell speech on ‘The Tonight Show ‘ (via danhacker)
