Oh, right. I should talk about Dragon*Con, shouldn’t I?
So, yes. This was my first year to attend Dragon*Con and it was a motherf*cking blast! Really no other way to put it.
Hmm, where do I begin? How about the costumes because cosplay at Dragon*Con is un-freaking-believable! I’ll be uploading all my photos soon. Once I figure out where to post them since I’m well beyond my 200 image limit for a free Flickr account. I promise, a link will be forthcoming.
What I can do in the meantime for those craving this epic delight of cosplay is direct you to the first of my Dragon*Con recap posts over at Nerd Bastards: Nerd Bastards’ Dragon*Con 2011 Cosplay Feast. That will have to do until I can figure out where to post all my pics. Suggestions welcome. I shudder at the idea of using Facebook.
Also, this is going to be a very, very image heavy post, your bandwith has been warned. If you see yourself and you’d like me to make mention it’s you or if you’d rather me to remove a photo of you, just let me know.
Let’s begin! Venture forward for pics of our costumes, famous people we met (oh yeah, we hobnobbed) and other various happenings of Dragon*Con!
I’ll start with sharing mine and my boyfriend’s costumes for the weekend. Here’s Jon (@Mallrat667) in his kick ass Fry costume with this awesome Bender we met. The Fry hair hat he totally made himself. Awesome, right?

OMG! Seymor!

And here he is with a fantastic Leela, who gave me tips on making a great eyeball you can see through. Is there a Leela costume in my future? Most definitely!

What was my first costume? Fionna from Adventure Time! Minus the backpack (oops!) but complete with ruby sword! Here I am fighting Finn for Princess Bubblegum.

There were tons of Adventure Time cosplayers there, I wish I could have gotten a photo with all of you. Hmm, I’m thinking an Adventure Time meet-up needs to happen next year.
Here’s a few more of some awesome Adventure Time-ers,

How awesome is this!? She even has her own Cake!
Also, I’ve realized it looks like I’m stabbing everyone in all the pictures because I wanted to show off my rad sword. Who knew I had such secret, violent tendencies?
Saturday afternoon I made it to what was one of the coolest things ever, the DC photo shoot. Obviously, I’m a HUGE DC fan, so getting to see so many incredible costumes of some of my favorite characters was amazing. In fact, I took so many damn photos at the DC photo shoot it warrants its own post, which will also be uploaded shortly. Hopefully. Fingers-crossed. And then linked to.
Hmm, where did the day go from there? Well, there was a lot of drinking and wild shenanigans as can be expected. I danced with a sex robot, y’know, the usual. Sex Robot. Sex Robot.

Totally stalked Sylvestor McCoy, that’s right, THE SEVENTH DOCTOR, at karaoke. I was trying to be discreet about catching photographic evidence, which is why this picture is kind of like a ‘Where’s Waldo.’ Hint, look in bottom left corner. Note, he totally rocked out with his cane later on.

Then this guy showed up. He looks familiar. Maybe you’ve seen him around Tumblr.

End of Saturday. And, yes I realize there wasn’t much mention of Friday. I believe it just blurred into Saturday, creating one awesome day called Frisatday.
Easily the highlight of Sunday was anything relating to The Venture Bros. It was truly a Venturiffic day. I wrote a whole article about all the Venture-ness over at Nerd Bastards: GO TEAM VENTURE! The ‘Venture Bros.’ Costume Contest & Party at Dragon*Con 2011, which you must check out.
Personally, the best part was this,

Meeting James Urbaniak and Doc Hammer was AWESOME! Even awesom-er, Doc commented on my Aquaman dress and he was the first and really the only one to do so! Made my night. Basically, Doc Hammer thinks Aquaman is cool, and so should you.
As you can see, Jon dressed appropriately for the party. He was Hank Venture as the Bat. Here he is with the Grand Galactic Inquisitor, by far the coolest (and tallest) costume there.

But Doc and James weren’t the only celebs we met, I tracked down Colin Ferguson, of Eureka, because I’ve recently become OBSESSED with the show (BAAAH! They’re cancelling it, those bastards!) and therefore I’m totally crushin’ on him.

Honestly, it took all my composure not to fangirl all over the place. But he’s a really swell guy, totally cool with his fans and very chatty. Also, at the Eureka panel Wil Wheaton signed his boob. I wish, wish, wish I could have gotten a photo of that, it was hysterical!
Funny thing is, we ended up at the karaoke again that night where we sort of stalked more Eureka and The Guild cast members. Here’s Chris Gauthier singing, marvelously.

Then Jordan Hinson, Robin Thorsen, Amy Okuda and Colin joined him. Don’t ya just love Colin’s hat?

Jon managed to grab some video of them singing, too. You can watch it over here.
Did I mention Dragon*Con was a motherf*ckin’ blast!?
Big, BIG thanks go out to friends, @Lisaspieces & @Ztrooper, who were our Dragon*Con hook-up all weekend. They knew where to go, when to go there and then how to meet and hang out with all the cool people.

Yes, drinking may have been involved by this point. I mean how can you tell? My squinty eyes? Jon’s completely closed eyes? Me rockin’ out on my trident? I don’t know what you mean. Whose drunk?

It happened to also be @Ztrooper’s birthday and I think we mananged to get him the best present ever, a dance with Miss Robin Thorsen.

Yep, then I used my Aquaman powers and controlled a shark. /Evening.

Monday was mostly recovery. Lots of recovery and rehydrating. Then a nine hour car ride to look forward too! Blech. But before we left we caught the final Sylvestor McCoy panel and I got a photo with awesome Doctor. He’s such a delight, I insist if you ever get the chance to see him, do it! I took video of part of the Q&A portion of his panel because he walked with the mic throughout the crowd and got up close and personal. But I need to figure out how to get it off my phone. Technology bummer.

Yes, I’m wearing my Fionna hat again. Hopefully I don’t look as exhausted as I felt.
Sigh. So, there’s Dragon*Con in a nutshell. Of course I’m going again next year, whose coming with me!? If it’ll be your first year I suggest you check out my final D*C post for Nerd Bastards: Tips and Tricks for a Dragon*Con n00b. Hopefully my shared insight with be helpful for other total n00bs before they dive into the chaose, mayham, and awesomeness that is, Dragon*Con.
