Filming Begins on S.H.I.E.L.D. TV Show – Nerds Everywhere, Rejoice!| Doctor Who Returns March 30th| RUMOR: We Might See a Batman Film in Theatres by 2017
Easily the best news I heard today was Doctor Who’s return on the 30th. Especially when you consider Game of Thrones begins the next day, March 31st. What a spectacular weekend that’s shaping up to be!
Now, a new Batman movie in 2017? That, I’m less excited about. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE BATMAN. But, I’d rather see a new animated series over a new movie franchise. Batman will already be appearing in the Justice League movie, which is cool, but when Warner Bros. has so many other superheroes who deserve the movie treatment, can’t Batman take a little break?
Gordon feels betrayed, and maybe he was.

I remember in the commentary Bruce Timm was saying that they originally wanted to see Barbara fall and hit the car from the outside, but the network had problems with it. So they did this instead. Bruce Timm ended up liking this version better.
Oh my god, it’s so much better from inside the car. Because that’s the image that Jim would have playing over and over in his head as he went after Bruce and see it through his eyes. It’s so goddamn powerful.
Oh man, this episode. It’s one I remember watching and thinking, “How? HOW!? There’s no way this is real!” And sure, in the end it wasn’t, but it’s still one of the most powerful episodes of B:TAS ever.
And yes, I believe it was Kevin Smith’s podcast Fatman on Batman where Bruce Timm talked about the scene. What exec thought seeing Babs hit the car from Gordon’s POV would be less traumatic, must be an idiot. Maybe it’s less visually graphic, but come on.

Yup, while my own podcast flounders due to my and my cohosts’ laziness I found the time to record an episode of Nerd Bastard’s very own podcast, The Bastardcast. I like to think I was intelligible but honestly, I don’t know how I could have been coming off a 12 hr workday and very little sleep. Still, listen, enjoy, comment, rate and all that jazz.
This weekend is Dragon*Con and expect a pre-Dragon post tomorrow, but with the con this weekend my brain is mush. Which is good because after a weekend of drunken, nerdy debauchery my brain will be incredibly mushy, why try and be smart now?

This is one of those videos I saw everywhere and kept telling myself, “I gotta watch this, gotta watch this.” Only today did it finally happen and, HOLY CRAP! This is easily the best of the many, many, many “Call Me Maybe” parodies I’ve seen.
For one, it uses its own original lyrics and they are hi-la-rious, and two, guys, it’s Batman. What’s not to love? Plus it’s making fun of one of my favorite Really? moments from ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’
“Yeah, umm, I’m an orphan too, so I saw your pain, and uh, I know you’re Batman.” Sorry, still don’t buy it. Loved the film, but yeah, what a hasty moment in plot progression.

One, not shocked they’d like to see Batman in a movie sooner than later. Two, ‘Arrow’ would be an interesting place for him to make an appearance, but I think they should avoid using him for a while. You don’t want him taking GA’s limelight. Three, I’ll be happy when this Ben Affleck/Justice League rumors goes away. I refuse to believe it.
In Marvel news, they’re having far more success with the movie biz,

Here’s a couple stories I wrote that really don’t tie into anything else: New ‘Hobbit’ Trailer With a Smidgen of New Footage - because who can say no to more ‘Hobbit’? Though, I did put it together last night that if there’s another ‘Hobbit’ movie being made that means it’ll longer before Martin Freeman is available for a third season of ‘Sherlock.’ Damn you, Peter Jackson!
In other sequel news, Donald Faison is in talks to play Dr. Gravity in ‘Kick-Ass 2.’ Y’know, the guy from ‘Scrubs’ and ‘Clueless.’ I only recently got around to reading ‘Kick-Ass 2,’ and while I don’t feel it’s as good as ‘Kick-Ass’, it is a lot more ambitious and that alone could make for an interesting flick.
Finally, there’s been a lot of ‘Doctor Who’ news lately what with series seven staring soon - though we still don’t have an air date, WTF BBC? - and that 50th Anniversary next year.

All this ‘Doctor Who’ news is worthy of your squees of joy, but you need to be really pumped for Mark Gatiss writing a drama about how ‘Who’ came to be. First off, you know who Gatiss is, right? If not, Wiki the man right now and you’ll realize how PERFECT a choice he is for bringing the history of ‘Who’ to life.
Here’s a quote from Gatiss about the project,

Agh, I can’t get over how fantastic this news is. Why must we wait until 2013 to get any of this amazingness!! Makes me wonder what other surprises Moffat and co. have in store.
