Pans from the Batman: The Animated Series episode “Over The Edge”

One of the best episodes. This whole series proved cartoons can present some dark and rather high thinking concepts, and guess what?! It wasn’t too much for kids to handle. More cartoons need to realize they don’t need to be dumbed down for the kiddies.

Oh, do your eyes need some cleaning today? This piece on Batman and Wonder Woman visiting sick children in a hospital should take care of that.

What I love about this story is when we all heard about Batman getting pulled over the internet was like, “What an idiot. Thinking he’s Batman, riding around in a lambourghini.” Then we learned the real story about this self-made business man who spends thousands of dollars every year visting sick kids in the hospital, dressing as Batman and giving out Batman toys. Then we all felt like douches.

This dude is awesome and he totally understands what it means to be a hero. We need more folks like him out there.

Alfred is simply the coolest.

Above is another clip from Justice League: DOOM. I’ve posted about it before.

DOOM releases on February 28th and I’m super stoked! I love nothing more than a fantastic, animated DC adventure. Especially one written by Dwayne McDuffie. Sadly, this is the last project of his we’ll ever see, and I’m hoping that makes it extra special.

Cover of Batman #9

First of all, huge thanks to Comic Vine - great site, great people. As for the cover, this is the big one, the issue in BATMAN that parallels the Night of the Owls crossover event. I can’t say too much about it, but I can say that for a long time you’ve seen Bruce on the defensive, with the Court making its (deadly) case. Well, just like the cover to #4 was all about the Owls claiming Gotham, this cover is almost the reverse image - this is Bruce’s time to win the city back, with everything at his disposal. Really, this issue is the biggest of the bunch - the battle for the soul of Gotham. Be there! And thanks again to Comic Vine and to all of you from team Batman.

-Scott Snyder, writer, Batman

Oooh! This cover gives me chills. If you’re not reading Snyder’s current Batman arc, I don’t know what’s wrong with you?! It’s brilliant, and it’s done something I thought wouldn’t happen for a while. It’s made me super excited Bruce is back in the cowl.

I really loved when Dick Grayson took over for Bruce at the end of the pre-New 52 continuity. It should showed real growth for the character, not something you often see in super hero comics, and it also made the Batman character feel fresh.

Actually, it’s obvious why I’m loving the current run of Batman. It’s written by Scott Snyder, who also wrote the run of Detective Comics with Grayson as the Bat.

Scott you are a genius. Please never, ever stop.

And of course, Greg Capullo, this cover is marvelous. Absolutely love how it hearkens back to the cover of Batman #4. Love the layout, love the colours. I love how menacing it is. I am ready for Batman to kick some ass.

Nerds Say What!?,
Podcast
It’s the inaugural episode of Nerds Say What!? Meet Sarah, Jonnie and Noah. Three nerds who talk about things. Things you like! Movies. Video games. TV. Comic books. Not necessarily in that order or with thoughtful commentary. In this episode they talk about their formative nerd years (Batman! Star Trek! Star Wars!), what they’re excited for in 2012 (The Avengers! Diablo III! Mass Effect! Futurama! Game of Thrones!) and generally get off topic with the tendency to ramble.

Yup, my friends and I have recorded a podcast. We’re hoping to begin by having episodes published bi-weekly eventually moving into weekly. This is our first episode, as in first podcast any of us have ever recorded. We had a lot of fun so I hope people have fun listening.

Please comment and send in suggestions. And follow us on Twitter at @NerdsSayWhat

Okay, I’ll be spoiling it right here, sooooo sorry if knowing the actual name of the stupid Batwing is a really big deal. But…yeah, this barely constitutes a spoiler.

It’s The Bat.

And my mine goes here:

And here:

Anyone else?

The Lion King Rises

What a fantastic mashup. Two of my childhood loves, together. Batman and The Lion King.

Tom Hardy’s arms are ginormous. They’re just HUGE!!
