Cover of Batman #9

First of all, huge thanks to Comic Vine - great site, great people. As for the cover, this is the big one, the issue in BATMAN that parallels the Night of the Owls crossover event. I can’t say too much about it, but I can say that for a long time you’ve seen Bruce on the defensive, with the Court making its (deadly) case. Well, just like the cover to #4 was all about the Owls claiming Gotham, this cover is almost the reverse image - this is Bruce’s time to win the city back, with everything at his disposal. Really, this issue is the biggest of the bunch - the battle for the soul of Gotham. Be there! And thanks again to Comic Vine and to all of you from team Batman.

-Scott Snyder, writer, Batman

Oooh! This cover gives me chills. If you’re not reading Snyder’s current Batman arc, I don’t know what’s wrong with you?! It’s brilliant, and it’s done something I thought wouldn’t happen for a while. It’s made me super excited Bruce is back in the cowl.

I really loved when Dick Grayson took over for Bruce at the end of the pre-New 52 continuity. It should showed real growth for the character, not something you often see in super hero comics, and it also made the Batman character feel fresh.

Actually, it’s obvious why I’m loving the current run of Batman. It’s written by Scott Snyder, who also wrote the run of Detective Comics with Grayson as the Bat.

Scott you are a genius. Please never, ever stop.

And of course, Greg Capullo, this cover is marvelous. Absolutely love how it hearkens back to the cover of Batman #4. Love the layout, love the colours. I love how menacing it is. I am ready for Batman to kick some ass.

Sadly, I haven’t been reading the current Justice League, which is ending with this issue. But damn, this cover is beautiful!
