Red Tails update from 1990… scheduled to come out in 1992!

It’s a travesty it took so long for this movie to happen. WTF studios!? How did this movie not sound like a bankable project? Ooh, all black cast, nope, nope, nope can’t have that. Ugh…sometimes the world is retarded.

Hehe! This is adorable. I know I’m going to make an effort to see Red Tails this weekend, are you?

Make all the cracks you want about George Lucas being a crappy director and an even crappier writer (Episode III — The dialogue!! — Those lines, they burn!) you’ve gotta admit the guy’s a fantastic idea man. While Star Wars pulls from all sorts of resources for inspiration, from classic Greek mythology to samurai films, the universe Lucas defined is unique and engaging. Otherwise there’d be no Star Wars fandom like there is to day. Well, that and its incredible merchandising…

The Real George Lucas Strikes Back!

I knew it! I knew the same man who created the best saga in the galaxy couldn’t have been responsible for the prequels and that shameful Indiana Jones flick! Now, the truth is revealed.

In this fake-trailer (Wait, what? It really is fake? Aw, nuts.) for a film begging to be made, George Lucas Strikes Back, we learn the truth of what happened 20 years ago. After Episode IV-VI, George Lucas was on top of the world. Star Wars had become the most popular film franchise in history and he was earning big bucks from the outrageous amount of merchandising. Things couldn’t be better, and Lucas wanted to focus on smaller, more personal movies. Well, Hollywood bigwigs didn’t like the sounds of that.

Kidnapped and imprisoned for two decades George is back and pissed the fuck off. Midichlorians? Aliens in an Indy movie? Jar-Jar? WTF!? How can one man handle so much offense against his beautiful films?

Watch the hilarious trailer above. You’ll laugh so hard you’ll cry. Then again, maybe I’m crying because the real truth is, the man in flannel we see nowadays is the real George Lucas.

George Lucas loves to meddle with his movies. They’re his movies, he can do what he likes with them and I think long ago he stopped caring about how much we fans will bitch and moan. He’s learned that no matter what we’ll line up and shell out the cash for another chance to see Star Wars on the big screen. Which is exactly what I, and I’m sure just about every other Star Wars fan, will do when Episode 1: The Phantom Menace returns to theatres February 10th in glorious 3D.

Jump to Nerd Bastards to hear what Lucas has to say our converting Star Wars to 3D (and not making it crappy) plus what’s up with the live-action TV series.

@StarWars will be live-tweeting The Main Event at SWCV, Jon Stewart interviews George Lucas

If you’re not at Star Wars Celebration V this is probably your best chance to find out how if Stewart holds back or not on asking George the tough questions. Like, Jar Jar? For realz!?
