“You’re missing the point! There’s no throne, there is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it’s too much for us but it’s all on you. Because if we can’t protect the Earth, you can be damn well sure we’ll avenge it!”

Let’s get one thing clear: I am a fucking hormonal wreck today.
Another thing: Gifs of this have been floating around since… early september I think?
So, I’ve seen this same goddamn thing about 4,059,400,350,507,521 times.
You’d think I’d be good and desensitized to this grinning shit, right?
I thought that.
I thought wrong.
No one is immune to Hiddleston’s grin.

Every year I’m frantic to come up with a good Halloween costume. Halloween is different from cosplaying, for a good Halloween costume I like to pick something that will be appreciated by the geeky and non geeky alike. And while my choice for this year is most definitely geeky I think there will be broad appeal. Drumroll, please!
I’m going to be a ‘Star Trek’ pin up girl. Basically my plan is to take this style,

Add this uniform,

And paint myself green,

With only my face, neck and hands exposed the body painting hopefully won’t be such a pain in the ass. For my legs I believe I could easily get away with green stockings under my fishnets. What do you guys think? I hope it all turns out okay and that people get what I’m going for.
I already ordered the pattern to make the uniform dress from Roddenberry.com and, shockingly, I believe I’ve left myself enough time to complete this costume sans stressing out! (Total lie, of course I’ll be stressin’ at some point.) I only need to also buy a Bettie Page-like wig, a garter belt, and stockings and it’ll be done. Ooh! And I’m thinking of checking out my nearby thrift shop for some wild and very ‘Trek’ looking glasses or decanters. Something fitting to drink out of while I party.
What are you being for Halloween? [comment]

Yup, while my own podcast flounders due to my and my cohosts’ laziness I found the time to record an episode of Nerd Bastard’s very own podcast, The Bastardcast. I like to think I was intelligible but honestly, I don’t know how I could have been coming off a 12 hr workday and very little sleep. Still, listen, enjoy, comment, rate and all that jazz.
This weekend is Dragon*Con and expect a pre-Dragon post tomorrow, but with the con this weekend my brain is mush. Which is good because after a weekend of drunken, nerdy debauchery my brain will be incredibly mushy, why try and be smart now?
On to my recent, “newsworthy” contributions,

Sure, there are dozens upon dozens of Sailor Scout mashups out there, but these Sailor Avengers are one of the best I’ve seen. It’s the clever design and great sense of character artist Ann Marcellino managed to portray for each Scout that make these real standouts.
I love ‘em so much I think I might be interested in buying some prints. And what luck! Ann is offering just that over on her Society6 shop!

Note: While consolidating blogs I’m transferring all previous Rad Recs to Tumblr in this post. Originally posted 4/11/12 and 5/15/12.
All right, so in a shameless steal from one of my fave ladies, Felicia Day, I wanted to start recommending stuff cool stuff I like à la her “Fave Five” segment on the new weekly show, The Flog. And probably provide some insight in to what I’ve been up to lately. Maybe. I don’t know, committing to two premises might be asking too much but we’ll see how this goes.
To start off I need an awesome title for my recommendation posts. With “Fave Five” already in use I’ll just re-purpose the same idea and call these, “Rad Recs”, which is short for rad recommendations. Awesome? Yes, great. I think it’d be even cooler if I called them “Rad Rex” but then I’d fear I’d mislead people looking for rad dinosaurs. But who knows, maybe a totally rad tyrannosaurus rex will appear in”Rad Recs.” Only time will tell.
