Iron Man suits through the years (2008-2013)
Saw Iron Man 3 last night. It’s fantastic! Easily as good as the first, much, MUCH better than the sequel. Not quite as good as The Avengers, but, I don’t think any of us expected that.

That Justice League news was unexpected, and while it’s still a rumor it seems to be a pretty solid one. Unsurprisingly the team lineup is Supes, Bats, Wondy, Flash, and GL. I’m shocked, WB, shocked. Though in all seriousness, I’m disappointed there’s no Aquaman. Come one, give him a break! He’s proven lately he’s not as lame as everyone always thought.
Even more unexpected, GRRM is writing something that isn’t The Winds of Winter!? What the fuck, George!? This prequel novella sounds awesome ‘cause it’s all about the Targaryen Civil War, known as the Dance of the Dragons, but still, it ain’t The Winds of Winter. Dude, HBO is gonna catch up faster than you think.
I also want to draw you attention to this insane bit of news: J.J. Abrams is directing Star Wars Episode VII. I know! Who would have thought we’d ever live in a world where one man would be in control of both Star Trek and Star Wars!? What’s next, Whedon directing Justice League?
Filming Begins on S.H.I.E.L.D. TV Show – Nerds Everywhere, Rejoice!| Doctor Who Returns March 30th| RUMOR: We Might See a Batman Film in Theatres by 2017
Easily the best news I heard today was Doctor Who’s return on the 30th. Especially when you consider Game of Thrones begins the next day, March 31st. What a spectacular weekend that’s shaping up to be!
Now, a new Batman movie in 2017? That, I’m less excited about. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE BATMAN. But, I’d rather see a new animated series over a new movie franchise. Batman will already be appearing in the Justice League movie, which is cool, but when Warner Bros. has so many other superheroes who deserve the movie treatment, can’t Batman take a little break?

Yeah, yeah, I know Dragon*Con is 323 days away, but guess what!? Basically all the host hotels - of which there are five - are sold out. And I managed after one of my more stressful mornings ever, snagged a room in the Marriot Marquis! Its beautiful view, upwards, from the lobby seen above.
After attending Dragon*Con for the past two years this is the first time I’ve managed to get a room at a host hotel and I’m delighted. Probably because I’ve never stayed in a host hotel and have no idea what horrors await me. The elevators are my number one concern, but Jonnie and I are young and fit and have no fear of stairs. Oh god, I hope we’re not roomed on the 30th floor.
In a lovely, internet coincidence I just watched this ‘My Little Pony’ video where instead of singing about The Grand Galloping Gala the ponies sing of going to a convention! It’s filled with lots of great detail any con-goer will appreciate, Brony or not.

Yup, while my own podcast flounders due to my and my cohosts’ laziness I found the time to record an episode of Nerd Bastard’s very own podcast, The Bastardcast. I like to think I was intelligible but honestly, I don’t know how I could have been coming off a 12 hr workday and very little sleep. Still, listen, enjoy, comment, rate and all that jazz.
This weekend is Dragon*Con and expect a pre-Dragon post tomorrow, but with the con this weekend my brain is mush. Which is good because after a weekend of drunken, nerdy debauchery my brain will be incredibly mushy, why try and be smart now?

Man, I’ve been writing a lot of stuff since I last updated here, let’s get right into it. My series of articles comparing ‘The Walking Dead’ TV show to its comic book source material continues at Nerds in Babeland with Episode 2 “Guts.” Obviously, you shouldn’t be reading these articles unless you’re caught up on the show and don’t mind knowing what happened in those corresponding comics. But if you have, I’d love to know what you think!

In this week’s edition of Kabooooom’s comic book roundup I reviewed both Saga #6 and Captain Marvel #2. Cap’ Marvel is really growing on me. I liked the first, enough to try the second, which wowed me. It’s kind of fun having a Marvel title I’m really diggin’.
And lastly in my recent bout of original content, I crafted a list of ladies I think would be well-qualified to join an all female ‘Expendables’. I think I managed a good list, but it’s by no means complete as there are dozens of kick-ass women I could see joining the franchise. Let me know who you’d cast in an all female ‘Expendables’?
